Sister Brands. Shared Philosophy.
The original WaterRower was created in Rhode Island in 1988. Its combination of natural water resistance, handcrafted wood and furniture-inspired design established a different approach to fitness equipment.
NOHRD later grew from WaterRower’s German sales and distribution business, following customer demand for complementary, design-led equipment. Today, the two brands offer a coordinated collection spanning rowing, cardio, strength and wellness.

WaterRower: Crafted in Rhode Island
More than 35 years after the first WaterRower was made, our rowing machines continue to be manufactured in Warren—a coastal New England town with a proud tradition of American craftsmanship.
From the selection of Appalachian hardwood to machining, hand-finishing, assembly and final inspection, each stage is completed with close attention to quality. The individual grain and tone of the wood remain visible, giving every wooden WaterRower its own natural character.
This craftsmanship is combined with the patented WaterFlywheel to create a rowing machine known for its smooth performance, distinctive design and lasting quality.

NOHRD: Crafted in Nordhorn
WaterRower’s German operation relocated to Nordhorn in 2005. With its skilled workforce, manufacturing expertise and space to develop, the town provided the ideal environment in which to begin creating fitness equipment. The NOHRD brand emerged in 2007.
Even the name was inspired in part by “NOH”—the local vehicle registration code seen throughout Nordhorn.
Today, every NOHRD product is developed and manufactured at our facilities in Nordhorn. Keeping design, engineering and production closely connected allows designers, engineers and craftspeople to refine every product from initial concept to final assembly.
Handcraft Meets Precision
Across WATERROWER | NOHRD, modern manufacturing technology provides accuracy and consistency, while skilled hands bring sensitivity to the details that machines cannot replicate.
Natural wood is carefully selected, shaped, sanded and finished to preserve its individual grain and tone. Components are precisely fitted, moving parts are checked for smooth operation and each product is inspected before leaving our facilities.
Designed to Perform. Made to Endure.
Craftsmanship is never simply decorative. Every material, surface and mechanical detail is considered in relation to performance, appearance and the experience of using the product.
Durable construction and serviceable components help keep our equipment in use for years—from private homes to hotels, studios and professional fitness facilities.
